Call for increased collaboration between Food Science Sweden partners 2018

Application deadline: June 10, 2018

FSS is announcing a call for increased collaboration between Food Science Sweden partners. Researchers from FSS member organisations are welcome to apply and preference will be given to projects involving two or more FSS partner organisations. 

The project topic should fall within food science and specifically within the active research areas of FSS. Other aspects that will be evaluated include 1) the novelty of the proposal, 2) the potentiality of the project to lead to further funding and 3) distribution of young and senior researchers.

The total sum to be applied for is up to 100 kSEK. The grant covers services, travel, fee for instrument use etc. but it cannot be used to cover salaries or stipends. All applications will be evaluated by the FSS-steering group.

LiFT welcomes five new PhD students

We are happy to welcome five new students to the LiFT graduate school:

They are all PhD students at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.

For PhD students: Training course in “Sustainable Intervention technologies for controlling food Safety and Stability (SUIT4FOOD)”

ERASMUS programme
Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB), Potsdam, Germany
19th to 23th March 2018

This postgraduate ERASMUS training programme brings together international experts from seven different European countries with expertise in sustainable intervention technologies, food legislation, science communication and entrepreneurship. The programme will develop autonomous initiatives in problem based studies of complex food processes including the quantitative analysis of the microbial and enzymatic activity following their application on different food matrices.

The programme will provide tailored, interactive training to participants in areas such as:

  • Microwave heating, High Hydrostatic Pressure, UV light, Ultrasound, Cold atmospheric plasma
  • Kinetic modelling of safety and quality indices of products by sustainable intervention technologies
  • Knowledge transfer, entrepreneurship and communications
  • Harmonisation and legislation

Partner institutes are: University of Malta, Malta; National Technical University of Athens, Greece; Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy e.V., Germany; Creta Farm S.A., Germany; Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), Spain; Global Harmonization Initiative GHI-Association, Austria; neoplas GmbH, Germany; RISE – Research Institutes of Sweden, Sweden; International Life Sciences Institute European branch AISBL, Belgium.

The programme will be of particular interest to Masters or (early stage) PhD students with an interest in Sustainable Intervention technologies in the Food and Bioscience field. Participants will accrue 5 ECTS credits.

Applications are invited for a number of travel and subsistence awards to attend this ERASMUS Intensive Programme which will be held at ATB – Potsdam (Germany), 19th to 23th March 2018
