PhD project title Metabolic effects of whole grains and dietary fibre with focus on appetite and weight‑loss

Short description of the project

This project investigates how hypocaloric, high‑fibre cereal diets affect appetite regulation and weight‑loss in individuals with elevated cardiometabolic risk. By conducting controlled dietary trials, the research evaluates how determinants such as glycaemic profile, gut microbiome composition and inflammatory markers influence individual responses to dietary interventions. The aim is to identify new strategies for personalised nutrition and to improve dietary recommendations for preventing obesity and type 2 diabetes.

About me

I completed my Master’s degree in Human Nutrition at Stockholm University and Karolinska Institutet, including a one‑year thesis project in Dunedin, New Zealand, where I studied the impact of whole‑grain processing on glycaemic control in individuals with type 2 diabetes. My main interests lie in public health, metabolic syndrome and personalised dietary strategies for obesity and type 2 diabetes. I am also interested in sports nutrition and optimising dietary strategies for performance. Through my PhD work, I hope to contribute to more effective, individualised diet recommendations for improved metabolic health.
