PhD project title: Engineering of Arabinoxylan Fibres Towards Prebiotic Hydrogels
Short description of the project
This project focuses on valorising bran—a major agricultural side stream—by using its main polysaccharide, arabinoxylan. Through enzymatic treatments, the aim is to develop stable hydrogels that can be used as prebiotic food additives and novel drug delivery systems. The research builds on arabinoxylan’s known health benefits, such as fermentability by gut bacteria and antioxidant properties.

About me
I grew up in Nacka outside Stockholm and started my studies at KTH in 2015 in the biotechnology programme, graduating in 2020 with a Master of Science in Engineering specialising in medical biotechnology. I worked at Enginzyme in the biocatalysis group from 2020 to 2022 before beginning my PhD. When I’m not working, I’m usually out climbing or hiking in the forest.
