About FSS

Welcome to Food Science Sweden, where Sweden’s leading experts in food research gather. We offer comprehensive knowledge about the challenges facing the food system, both nationally and globally.

Food and its production are crucial societal issues, especially regarding climate impact, nutritional needs, affordability, and availability during various types of crises. In times of uncertainty and change, these issues play a central role in our social structure and daily lives. Strong and cohesive food science research and expertise that match industrial and societal needs are essential to meet global challenges and strengthen the competitiveness of the Swedish food industry.

Our mission – To strengthen and highlight Swedish food research

Food Science Sweden was founded in 2013 with the mission to strengthen and highlight Swedish food science research both nationally and internationally, and this remains our primary focus. Additionally, we actively work to attract young students to our food education programs and subsequently to research and innovation. We also contribute to building international research collaborations that strengthen the Swedish food sector.

Now, as when we were founded, we also aim to increase competence within the food sector and be a clear representative for academia and institutes towards industry, trade organizations, authorities, and research funders.
